‘Awakeners Awaken Us’ is a sublime, trippy piece of electronic music. Barbarossa, a well-received singer and producer from the UK, has pulled out all the stops for his latest track, which combines the influence of Aphex Twin’s most breezy (comprehensible) works with addictive pop melodies and vintage synth work. On the creation of the track, he explains: “The song is basically about a relationship that I went through when I was just starting out as an adult... With perspective on it now though I can see how it helped me to know when I found the right person and how the experience taught me so much about when things don’t go to plan.” His upcoming album, Love Here Listen, is Barbarossa’s sixth full-length. -Dan Peeke
